Sachin, Virat Kohli Hail India’s ‘Brilliant Finish’ vs Australia
India will now face England in the finals of the ICC Women’s World Cup.
With a whopping 36-run win over their Australia, the Indian women’s cricket team made their way to the finals of the ICC World Cup on 20 July.
Harmanpreet Kaur steered the Indian team towards victory, with 171 off 115 deliveries. While Australian counterpart Alex Blackwell’s 90 runs were a stagnating force over the course of the game, it was not enough to stop the bowling attack from the women in blue.
Congratulatory messages poured in on Twitter upon India’s victory over their rivals, cheering them on for their final game against England, a team that the Indian women have already beaten earlier in the tournament.
Besides hailing Harmanpreet’s performance with the bat, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli joined the cricket fraternity in lauding the India team’s journey to the final.
Former Indian cricket maestro Virender Sehwag wished the women in blue luck for the finals.
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi also congratulated the team on their win.
Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif hailed India’s journey in the tournament as a sensational campaign.
Retired cricketer Aakash Chopra also congratulated the women on their victory.
Commentator Ayaz Memon was quick to point out Blackwell’s retaliation, terming it "not good enough". He further likened the tournament to the 1983 World Cup, which was when India recorded its first ever title.
