A case of gang-rape has emerged from Karnataka’s Mysuru, about 150 kilometres from Bengaluru, where a woman in her 20s was allegedly raped by a group of inebriated men while her male friend was also assaulted grievously, reported The Hindu.

The incident took place on the night of Wednesday, 8 May, when the survivor and her friend were in an isolated area in the outskirts of the city. According to Umesh Kumar, Inspector General of Police (Southers Range) it was a group of 5 men that attacked the duo, first assaulting the friend and then raping the woman. The men were sitting in a car.

Mysuru SP Amit Singh told The Quint that the incident occurred when the lady went to pass urine but refused to share any more information about her. “The friend is doing fine now, he has a fracture in his right leg,” he said.
