“I lost my kid, Prakash, and so that no one else loses their child I have taken this upon myself. One rainy day, due to these potholes, my son died in an accident. From that day, I thought of making Mumbai roads pothole-free.”
Dadarao Bilhore

Dadarao Bilhore, the man who lost his son three years ago in an unfortunate incident, told me this as he set the inspiration for the day. We grouped with members of Pothole Raja, an organisation that fills potholes around Bengaluru, to fill the pothole near a government hospital in Sewri, Mumbai.

Our drive started at 6 am and we were thankful to receive the help of Prathap and Sourabh from Pothole Raja, as well as the volunteers from iVolunteer.

We had collectively taken this initiative for the purpose of road safety, and to avoid accidents.

“We used to get complaints from the hospital. We spoke to the BMC officials as well, they told us we could go ahead as the pothole was huge. Once the monsoon begins, we know it will likely create problems.”
Sourabh Kumar

It is our duty too to make roads pothole-free. As Dadarao said, we will try to fill potholes in our respective areas, and try to work towards pothole-free roads. We started the mission of filling potholes a year ago. This year, for monsoon 2019 also, we are ready to fill all potholes in Mumbai.

“I would like to request BMC and all concerned authorities that monsoon is coming, and a lot of work has to be done so please fill potholes.”
