My ISC Board exams are nearing and I’ve take out time between my studies to write this. Why? ’Coz I think it’s important for us (students) to understand the purpose behind board exams.

We often receive mixed reactions from overtly casual seniors, who say boards are just an exam we need not worry about, to parents and relatives, who hype the significance of this one examination on the rest of our life.

Honestly, this is a difficult phase for us to balance. We don't know which narrative is to be really believed.

Personally, I believe at this stage of our lives, it is an important step to be taken. We should put in our share of efforts. We shouldn't be too casual and reluctant about it. But also, we shouldn't be stressed out about the results to the extent that we start having panic attacks. We need to strike a balance.

My Exam Regime be Like?

Along with studying for ample amount of hours, one must take sufficient amount of breaks and sleep properly for better working of the brain. I, personally, take a 20-minute break after every two hours of constant studying (thus the article!).

I sleep for eight hours. Nobody should compromise on the sleeping hours. We don’t realise it but it’s very important for us.

One thing that my mother constantly keeps telling me and I often neglect is to eat healthy. She takes care of the fact that I eat healthy food and drink adequate amount of water.

I really have very low concentration. So, everyday I wake up in the morning and practise a few breathing exercises for 5-10 minutes. And I’ve drastically cut down on the usage of social media.

Besides these, it's important to maintain peace of mind. Remember, this is not the end. There's life beyond it. Trust me, this is coming from a girl who is giving her Board exams in a few weeks.

Marks are important but marks are not everything. If we don’t get a high percentage and get into our dream course, remember we are meant for something else. Hope, positivity and will power is extremely important to sustain such periods of stress.

Still, if you think you cannot manage your anxiety and stress, then do not hesitate to speak to someone. Good luck to one and all. And good luck to me!
