Nawab Fazal Jah Bahadur, the last surviving son of the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, died in a private hospital in the city on Sunday. He was 72.
Fazal Jah was among the 34 children of Nawab Sir Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur, the last ruler of the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad.
His mother was the seventh Nizam’s last wife, Leela Begum Sahiba.
According to reports, Fazal Jah had not been in good health for some months and was admitted to a hospital in Basheerbagh after his health further deteriorated a few days ago. He passed away early on Sunday morning.
He is survived by his wife Sahabzadi Darwerunnisa Begum Sahiba and son Fazeelath Ali Khan.
Fazal Jah mostly spent his time and money on the upkeep of the Masjid-e-Judi Mosque building, located in King Koti, where his father has been buried. He was also a trustee of the HEH Nizam Religious Trust.

Following his demise, Fazal Jah’s property will reportedly be distributed among his legal heirs. The Times of India reports that Fazal Jah had inherited Rs 4 crore in the late 90s and early 2000 from the sale of the seventh Nizam’s legendary jewellery.
However, due to certain legal issues, he did not get his entire share and the money was kept with one of the trusts of the seventh Nizam.
“As I understand, Rs 4 crore will now be distributed among the legal heirs of the Nizam,” Asif Pasha, an authority on the affairs of the Nizam’s family, told the publication.
Fazal Jah was also buried in the Masjid-e-Judi Mosque.
