The breathtaking landscape of Ladakh has always had travelers in awe of its expanse and beauty. Along with Zanskar valley and Tso Moriri Lake, Takmachik should feature on your itinerary as well. Travel during the apricot season when this picturesque town comes alive, with the Indus roaring nearby. Stay for longer and the local women may let you in, in their world of secret treasures like the Perak. The headgear has turquoise and precious stones stitched on to leathery base cut out in the shape of a serpent’s hood. The number of stones define the women’s standing in society.
