Eight Security Personnel Killed in Encounter in Pulwama

Suspected militants attacked the District Police Lines in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.

• Eight security personnel were martyred in the encounter
  Two terrorists gunned down, two others holed up as gunfight underway
• Four others, including 3 CRPF jawans and 1 J&K policeman were injured
  

• The militants opened fire on DPL in Pulwama at 4.30 am.
  

Jawans Laid to Rest

The slain jawans who were killed in the Pulwama attack were laid to rest. A wreath laying ceremony was performed for CRPF jawan Mohd Yaseen Tali.

Jaitley Condoles Death of Security Personnel

Defence Minister Arun Jaitley condoled the death of the eight security personnel.

J&K Police Chief Rules out 'Security Lapse'

Jammu and Kashmir Police chief SP Vaid asserted that there was "no security lapse" in the 'fidayeen' (suicide) attack.

"You cannot prevent (an attack) if somebody is ready to die," he told reporters. He said the militants had taken shelter in the family quarters of the complex.

The security forces together evacuated everybody from those blocks and in the process, we have suffered some casualties, but the terrorists have been eliminated.

Eight Security Personnel Killed

In an encounter in Pulwama, two terrorists and eight security personnel have been killed. These include four policemen and four CRPF jawans. Furthermore, five security personnel have also been injured, say police.
