India Provided More Aid to Other Nations Than It Got in Last 3 Yrs

India’s economic prowess is more visible after it emerged that it provided development aid worth Rs 7719.65 crores in financial year 2015-16 to other foreign countries, in comparison with Rs 2,144.77 crores that it received from other nations.

A New Indian Express report said that Minister of State for External Affairs General VK Singh informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that, “India is currently a net donor of foreign aid. In the last three years, it has provided more aid to foreign countries, than it has received.”

In accordance with India’s “Neighbourhood Policy”, Bhutan was the biggest recipient of the aid in 2015-16 with Rs 5,386.46 crores that will be utilised to develop and boost its hydro-electric power generation project. On second position is Afghanistan followed by Sri Lanka.
