1. Key Witness in Kairana Gangrape, Murder Killed

A key witness in the gangrape and murder of a 35-year-old woman in Shamli district’s Kairana this April was shot dead early Monday at his house at Akbarpur Sunheti village, police said.

The witness, 55-year-old Brahmpal Singh, was shot in his sleep between 1:30 am and 2 am at a site where residents keep their cattle, said local police, citing a complaint from Singh’s brother.

Singh was the brother-in-law of the woman who was kidnapped on 4 April and found murdered three days later, according to police. The gangrape and murder had sparked outrage in the area with BJP MP Hukum Singh claiming that the incident had led to an exodus of Hindu families from Kairana to escape “criminal elements” belonging to “a particular community”.

2. 4-Year-Old Kidnapped, Assaulted and Killed

A four-year-old girl was abducted by two men, taken to an abandoned railway yard, and killed.

The incident occurred near Lawrence Road, Keshavpuram, on Sunday night. The child had gone out to the road outside the slum she lived in to play with her siblings after dinner. That was around 8.30pm. A little later, her siblings returned home and told their parents that she had disappeared behind a truck parked nearby.

3. J&K Bank in Badgam Looted by Unidentified Gunmen

A bank was looted by unidentified gunmen in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The gunmen entered the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch at Charari-e-Sharif in Budgam and robbed Rs 12 lakh from it, police said.

Bank employees alerted the police after the incident happened. Further investigations are in progress.

Earlier, three masked men had looted a bank of Rs 2.25 lakh in Kulgam district on 25 October.

4. Woman Raped by Occultist in Gurgaon

A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an occultist in Civil Lines area here, police said today.

The victim was raped by the accused, Deepak, one month ago after she and her husband visited him for medicines to help the couple conceive, they said.

The accused is a resident of posh Sector-15 in Civil Lines area. He raped her at his residence after offering her tea laced with sedative, they added.

"The victim is a resident of Palwal in Haryana and had approached the occultist after her relatives in Sohna told her family that Deepak gave medicines to people who cannot conceive," Gurgaon Police, PRO, Manish Sehgal said.

5. 20-Year-Old Man Allegedly Stoned to Death in Northwest Delhi

A 20-year-old youth was allegedly stoned to death in northwest Delhi's Netaji Subhash Place area, police said today. Police received information about a body lying near a wall of Police Colony.

The deceased was identified as Chetan Singh, a resident of Rani Bagh. His Aadhaar card and driving licence were lying near his body.

6. BJP MLA Krishna Khopde’s Son Gets Into Bar Fight, Friend Killed in Nagpur

A 23-year-old man, said to be a friend of BJP MLA Krishna Khopde’s two sons, was murdered near Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis’s house in Gokulpeth locality of Nagpur, after a drunken brawl allegedly involving the MLA’s son, Abhilash, and a bar owner.

Khopde is an MLA from East Nagpur constituency. Abhilash has been booked for attempt to murder.

Shubham Mahakalkar was stabbed to death allegedly by bar owner Sunny Bambratwar’s brother Shobhit and his accomplices. Shubham had arrived at the scene after a distress call from Abhilash Khopde, who had a fight with Sunny and his staffers over delay in service at the bar. Shubham had gone there along with Khopde’s second son, Rohit.

7. Suicide Pact Goes Wrong, Student Strangles Woman With Charging Wire in Delhi

A suicide pact between a 23-year-old MBA student and a 37-year-old married woman took a drastic turn after he strangled her with a phone charger, police said. The accused, Deepak Kumar, has been arrested on charges of murder, police said.

According to police, the two decided to commit suicide by consuming sulphas tablets as their families were against their “relationship”.

They were in his car when the woman consumed the tablets. As she writhed in pain, police said Kumar got scared and strangled her.

8. Auto Driver Held for Murdering 2 Women in Gurgaon

Gurgaon Police arrested a 28-year-old auto driver for the murder of two women. According to police, the accused murdered the first woman with the help of the second victim, whom he then murdered with the help of a third woman.

Police said the first murder was carried out in November 2015, while the second was executed in May this year.

The auto driver, identified as Subodh Kumar alias Chautala — who hails from Nalanda, Bihar and resided in Gurgaon’s Chakkarpur village — was arrested in connection with the second murder in August, and was found to be involved in the first murder only last week.

9. Murder Accused Bhupat Ahir Killed

A murder convict involved in eight murders, Bhupat Vasaram Ahir, was murdered in Puna area of the city on Sunday. The accused was stabbed to death by a group of people, who had come armed with sharp weapons.

Ahir was near Archana School when some people arrived at the spot in a car and attacked the deceased around 8 pm. The accused had come with weapons like swords, knives and iron rods to attack the accused. Ahir was on a scooter which the accused hit with their car. They then took out weapons and attacked him.
