1. Woman Member of Gang Which Abducted & Killed Doctor Nabbed
A woman 'actively involved' in the kidnapping of a doctor for ransom and his killing earlier this year in Shikohabad, was arrested on Monday, Ghaziabad police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the Indirapuram police nabbed Manju Kumari at about 10:30 am, they said.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that she, along with Pradeep alias Daroga, Ashok Yadav, Arun and Sonu had kidnapped Dr Rajesh Gupta from his clinic in Nirkari colony of Vasundhara on 20 January 2016, said Superintendent of Police (City) Salman Taj Patil.

2. Teenage Girl Gangraped in Vizag
A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by five juveniles in city, police said on Monday.
Though the alleged incident took place on 1 October, father of the girl avoided approaching police fearing social stigma, as his elder daughter is scheduled to marry next month.
However, Gajuwaka police took cognisance of reports appearing in local media and traced the girl’s family, said police inspector T Immanuel Raju.
He said the girl is a Class VIII students and two of the accused are known to her.

3. Woman, Daughter Found Hanging in Southwest Delhi
A 48-year-old woman and her teenage daughter were found hanging in their house in southwest Delhi's Najafgarh area on Monday, with police suspecting that the mother committed suicide after "forcing" the girl to kill herself.
The incident was reported at 7.15 am and it is believed that Anita Yadav and Siya (18) hung themselves last night, a senior police officer said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Siya's hands were tied behind her back. Also, it came to light that Anita, who is a government school teacher, was under "severe depression" due to her son's illness and her daughter's poor performance in school, he said.

4. Three Held in BJP Leader's Murder Case, Sent to Police Custody
Three persons were on Monday arrested in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old local BJP leader, who was shot and hacked to death allegedly by a group of people in Talegaon Dabhade near here, police said. The accused, identified as Bunty alias Shankar Dabhade, Sandip Pachpind and Sanju Pachpind (all local residents), have been arrested under relevant sections of IPC, police said.
“Besides these three accused, we have booked seven to eight people, including the main suspect and criminal on record, Shyam Dabhade, who has been spotted in one of the CCTV footages. A manhunt has been launched to trace the absconding assailants,” Additional Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Shinde said.
Sachin Shelke, former president of Talegaon Dabhade Municipal Council, was travelling in his car when assailants waylaid him near a petrol pump on Sunday. The attackers asked Shelke to get down from the car and fired a round at him and then attacked him with sharp-edged weapons before fleeing.

5. Woman Offered Spiked Drink by Friend, Raped
A woman has accused her friend of raping her in a car after offering her a spiked drink, police said on Monday.
The woman alleged that her friend, identified as Robin, first took her out and drove between Vikaspuri and Janakpuri on 15 October, police said.
He allegedly offered her a soft drink laced with sedatives after which she started feeling dizzy, following which he offered to take her to Mahipalpur for showing the venue of his birthday party celebration, said a senior police officer.

6. Rape Accused Attempts Suicide at Police Station in Chhattisgarh
A man accused of rape allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming poison at a police station in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, police said on Monday.
"The accused, Setram Rathiya, survived the suicide attempt and is under treatment at ICU in the district hospital," Raigarh Additional Superintendent of Police UBS Chauhan said.
Rathiya, a school teacher posted at Tarpali village, was arrested on Sunday based on a complaint of rape of a 25-year-old nurse on the pretext of marrying her, in Chakradhar Nagar police station area, he said.

7. Woman Strangled to Death Over Dowry in UP
A 30-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her in-laws over dowry at Bhensi village, police said on Monday.
On the complaint made by her family, an FIR has been registered against husband, Amit Kumar, his father Satlal, his mother Bimla, brother-in-law Las Bablu and two others, SHO Pankaj Tyagi said.
All of them are absconding, the officer said.

8. Husband Kills Wife For Opposing Illicit Relationship
A 23-year-old woman was killed and her body thrown into a river in Bareily allegedly by her husband after she objected to his illicit relationship.
Poonam's body was on Sunday fished out of a local river near Adhkata village. The preliminary inquiry revealed her husband, Mohanlal, killed and threw the body into the river, police said.
During interrogation, the accused said he was in a relationship with a woman in the family and his wife opposed it.
A case has been registered against him at Nawabganj police staion, police said.

9. Minor Gangraped in Rajasthan, Four Arrested
A 16-year-old minor, who had left her home in rage after being scolded by her maternal grandmother and reached Bundi railway station was gangraped by four youths, Kota GRP revealed on Monday.
The victim, a resident of Bhopal, had left her home along with her seven-year-old brother and reached Bundi Railway station after taking a wrong train, they said.
