In more trouble for standup comedian, Kapil Sharma, Oshiwara Police registered an FIR against him for alleged unauthorised construction at his flat in Goregaon, Mumbai.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) sub-engineer, Abhay Jagtap had lodged a complaint at Oshiwara police station in this regard on Monday.

In the complaint, Jagtap had alleged that Sharma, who owns a flat in DLH Enclave on New Link Road in Goregaon, had violated norms and carried out illegal construction in the flat, a senior police official said.

Based on the complaint, Sharma was booked under section 53(7) of Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act (MRTP) 1966, the police official said.

Besides Sharma’s flat, the municipal body has found violations in 15 other flats in the building that includes Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan’s flat. All the violators have been served with notices.

Apparently, comedian Kapil Sharma’s ‘bribe’ tweet has not gone down well with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Kapil Sharma, on Thursday, had tweeted:

The BMC, however, was quick to respond, saying that Sharma had flouted the rules of construction in both his Versova office building and Goregaon apartment.

Officials from the BMC added that since Sharma did not reply to any of the notices sent almost two months ago for ‘illegal construction’, they went ahead and demolished the building.

To add insult to injury, the BMC also plans to recover the demolition cost from Kapil.

The illegal construction has enraged environment activists as well. Activists have registered a complaint to the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority for destruction of mangroves due to the construction activities.

ET Realty on Monday reported that advocate Abha Singh has also reached out to the Versova Police Station demanding an FIR against Sharma on his Andheri house construction violations.

Several political parties including the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the MNS are also contemplating action against Sharma.

The SP would be sending a notice to Sharma for maligning the image of BMC without any proof. Likewise, the MNC also plans to send a notice to Sharma for being witness to a crime (bribery) and not informing the police about it.

Sharma, after being forced on the back foot, tweeted again:

The BMC has also served a notice to actor Irrfan Khan for illegal construction of his flat, reported India Today. Irrfan lives on the fifth floor in the same building as Kapil in Goregaon.

Meanwhile, some other residents have also been sent notices on the same grounds of flouting regulations.
