1. Woman Hacked to Death Tamil Nadu Church by Jilted Lover
A 25-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her jilted lover in a Tamil Nadu church on Wednesday, police said. They added that the man, who is believed to have stalked her for several months, hanged himself to death thereafter.

2. Ola Suspends Drunk Drivers Accused of Raping, Murdering Minor
A 12-year-old girl was kidnapped, gang-raped and murdered by two Ola cab drivers in Kolkata. The cab drivers were drunk at the time of crime and allegedly picked up the girl from the streets in central Kolkata around 5 am on Wednesday morning. The two men sexually assaulted the child in the car and then murdered her.
Condemning the alleged misbehaviour by one of their drivers in Kolkata, Ola on Wednesday put out a statement saying that they have “suspended the account associated with this cab with immediate effect”.

3. Three-Year-Old Raped, Found in Bush Writhing in Pain
In a gruesome incident, a three-year-old girl was raped on Wednesday and then thrown into shrub by the side of a railway track in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. A local spotted the girl lying in the bush and crying in pain.
The person who found her said the child was bleeding profusely, gasping for breath and struggling to crawl. She also had several injury marks on her body.The state minister for women and child welfare Archana Chitnis said police officials have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.

4. Police Launch Manhut for Stepfather Who Raped Daughter for Four Years
The police launched a manhut after a teenage girl complained that her 55-year-old stepfather had allegedly raped over a period of four years in Nallasopara, Palghar. The heinous crime came to light when the 18-year-old victim finally mustered courage to lodge a police complaint on 28 August.
According to the complaint, the girl was sexually abused by the accused since August 2012 whenever she was alone at home and the accused had allegedly threatened to kill her if she revealed anything, reported police.

5. Two Teenage Girls Gangraped by Five Youths, Two Held
Two teenage girls were gangraped by five youths in West Singhbhum district, Jamshedpur on Wednesday. One of the five youths who was known to one of the victims had asked her to visit a fair held on the occasion of Janmashtami. On the pretext of dropping the girls, the youth took them to an isolated spot where he was joined by four of his friends who took turns to rape the girls.
Police were informed of the incident after the girls reached the village next morning and narrated the incident.The police then managed to arrest two of the accused while search for the others is on.

6. Man Kills Father Over Frequent Quarrels With Mother
A 28-year-old unemployed man in Thane allegedly killed his father in the wee hours of Wednesday morning after being annoyed over the latter’s frequent quarrels with his mother, police said. Vishnu Arun Alzonde was irked as his father Arun Alzonde (55) often fought with his mother and would beat her up at their home in an inebriated condition.
The accused was arrested this morning and a case under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against him.

7. NEHU Research Scholar Sexually Harassed by Professor
Students of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) demanded immediate removal of the Dean of the School of Social Sciences after a research scholar of the History department filed a written complaint to the university authorities on 26 August saying that the professor had sexually harassed her.
The students, under the banner of the North Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU) brought out a protest march to the office of the vice-chancellor demanding action against the professor.

8. Constable Rapes Minor Girl, Suspended
A 17-year-old girl from Ashoknagar, Madhya Pradesh was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a police constable who took her to Guna district, an official reported on Wednesday. Constable Yogendra Raghuvanshi, who was known to the victim, took her along with him under the pretext of dropping her to school after she missed her bus, after which he raped her. Raghuvanshi, posted at police line, was suspended and efforts are on to trace him, the officer added.

9. Woman Strangled to Death for Dowry in Rampur
A 20-year-old pregnant woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband and in-laws after she could not meet their dowry demands in Bhot area, Rampur on Wednesday. In a complaint, the family of the deceased alleged that the woman’s in-laws were demanding a motorcycle from them and since they failed to provide it they killed their daughter. A case has been registered against four persons including the husband.
