Leaders from the RSS and other Sangh parivar organisations, who had assembled for a meeting held in Kochi on Friday — to chalk out the BJP’s strategy in the coming Assembly polls in Kerala — accused CPI(M) of “intimidating” the CBI, which is probing political murder cases, allegedly involving their activists.

Although BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, an RSS pracharak, said the party treats both CPI(M) and Congress as its main rivals in state’s politics, political violence, allegedly involving CPI(M) activists in Kannur district was the main discussion point in the meeting attended by top BJP and Sangh parivar leaders.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Rajasekharan said it discussed “the style of functioning” of CPI(M) in the state and flayed the main Left party for “targeting and killing” RSS-BJP workers, particularly in politically volatile Kannur district.

“They (CPI-M) don’t want to see peace and prevalence of rule of law in the state. They are involved in bloodshed and killing. They are preventing CBI from investigating murder cases involving their party leaders. They are trying to intimidate CBI,” he said, referring to the political killings in Kannur and Kozhikode districts allegedly by CPI(M) workers.

The Sangh outfits’ statement comes after the CBI failed to get the custody of CPI(M) Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan for interrogation, after his arrest in connection with the murder of RSS worker E Manoj.

Jayarajan, a heart patient, is admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital at Kozhikode, following his remand.

Referring to the recent killing of an RSS worker in Kannur district, allegedly by CPI(M) workers and other incidents including a suicide attempt by a Dalit girl student in Thrippunithura, allegedly due to rumours spread by SFI workers, Rajasekharan said the leaders at the meeting expressed their anguish, anger and protest over “the worsening law and order situation in the state.”

He said BJP and Sangh outfits would organise “Desa Bhakt Sangamam” against “anti-nationals” in all panchayats in the state.

Rajasekharan also said the meeting discussed the poll strategy and alliance partners in the state.
