Berlin, May 20 (IANS) Borussia Dortmund have signed goalkeeper Marwin Hitz from league rivals Augsburg, both sides announced.
The "BVB" completed their first summer transfer after Augsburg's Marwin Hitz penned a three-year deal, to stay with the "Black and Yellows until June 2021, it was announced on Saturday, reports Xinhua news agency.
"We are pleased that we were able to sign with Marwin Hitz a very experienced goalkeeper, who has proven his qualities on the high level of the Bundesliga for many years," Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said.
The Swiss international has played for Augsburg since 2013 and made 141 appearances, providing one goal. Hitz is part of Switzerland's national team since 2015 where he made two caps.
"After five fantastic years at Augsburg I wanted to experience something different again. I am looking forward to the challenge at such a big club and to the matches in the Champions league," the 30-year-old goalkeeper said.
Borussia Dortmund completed the Bundesliga season 2017-2018 in the 4th place in the standings. Hence, they booked their berth for next season's UEFA Champions league group stage.
