Central Command celebrates its 55th Raising Day
lucknow, May 1 (IANS) The Indian Army's city-headquartered Central Command celebrated its 55th Raising Day on Tuesday, a defence official said.
Command chief, lt. Gen. B.S. Negi laid a wreath at 'Smritika' memorial built to commemorate the soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty, while at a prayer meeting later, all troops prayed for the command's success in all operational and administrative tasks entrusted to it, a defence spokesman said.
Negi, in his address, commended all ranks for their valuable contribution towards maintaining high standards of operational readiness despite heavy commitments.
Central Command spans over seven states and has a large number of logistics and training establishments under it as well around half of the total cantonments. In addition, its area of responsibility covers approximately 40 per cent of the serving soldiers and 30 per cent of veterans.
