Lashkar-e-Taiba militant Bahadur Ali, captured in Kupwara district of Kashmir on Tuesday is a Pakistani national from Lahore, he told the police on Thursday.
Four militants were killed while Ali was apprehended by security forces during an encounter in Naugam sector near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of Kashmir, an army official had said on Tuesday.
The Pakistani militant was flown to Delhi after being taken on transit remand by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), police sources said.
Ali said he crossed over to the Kashmir Valley two months back and had been operating under the nom de guerre Saifullah.
Some crucial disclosures made by the militant have not been made public because of their operational importance.Police Official
He also reportedly said that after crossing into India from Lepa Valley in Pakistani Kashmir, he had been receiving groups of militants from Pakistan.
Minister of State, Hansraj Ahir had also said that the captured terrorist is a Pakistani national, on Tuesday.
Minister of State Kiren Rijiju, also spoke on the encounter, and has called apprehending one of the terrorists alive as a “big achievement.”
