On Tuesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a case of corruption against its former director Ranjit Sinha.

Sinha has been accused of influencing the probe into the coal block allocation case by being in touch with the accused people.

He is the second CBI director to be probed by his own agency after AP Singh, who had also been booked for corruption charges.

On Monday, the CBI filed an FIR against Sinha. If convicted, he may face a maximum of seven years in prison.

The FIR has come three months after the apex court asked the CBI to investigate SInha’s role in the case. A Special Investigation Team was put together to look into his involvement prima facie.
