The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked former liquor baron Vijay Mallya to file an affidavit on a plea filed by banks alleging that he transferred $40 million to his children.
The bench, headed by Justice Kurian Joseph, has granted Mallya three weeks to file the affidavit and adjourned the court till 2 February.
The apex court heard the plea filed by the SBI-led consortium of banks to recover more than Rs 9,000 crore that he owes them.
On 26 April, the court had asked Mallya to disclose his assets to the consortium.
