First of all, the suggestions I will give will not be accepted for a long time. This I say not because my suggestions are bereft of any practical importance, but precisely because of the axiom that the advice most needed is the advice least heeded.
Here are my suggestions for a few things we must all do to reduce pollution:
1) Promote public transport.
2) Discourage use of private vehicles.
3) Try the odd-even scheme. It may prove effective.
4) Stop disseminating licences for vehicles indiscriminately.
5) Work on afforestation.
6) Adhere to a cracker ban.
7) Ban burning of fields after procuring the produce, especially in Punjab.
8) Utilise taxes properly for the environment.
9) Switch to environmentally friendly alternatives of air conditioning.
10) Promote use of solar energy systems.
11) Use fuel-efficient vehicles.
