Bollywood’s much talked about clash between Raees and Sultan has been averted. This happened because the makers of Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees took a step back to avoid the big box-office face-off. The film has now been pushed to 26th January 2017. Producers of the film – Ritesh Sidhwani, Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar issued a joint statement about their decision.

It was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that Raees is highly anticipated. However, a film of such magnitude requires the appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26th January 2017.

With this move, exhibitors and distributors are now breathing a sigh of relief as they would have lost a lot of money had these two big films come on the same day.

Salman Khan’s Sultan will now probably be the only release on this Eid, 6th July 2016.
