In the controversy surrounding Udta Punjab, Pahlaj Nihalani’s son and daughter-in-law have sided with the film and its producers, opposing all the cuts proposed by the Central Board of Film Certification, according to a report in Mumbai Mirror.

Nihalani’s son and daughter-in-law work for Balaji Motion Pictures which is one of the producers of Udta Punjab along with Phantom Films.

Chirag Nihalani works as a creative producer at Balaji Motion Pictures and is associated with the film’s promotional material, including its trailer. His wife Radhika works with the marketing team of the film.

Numerous members of the film fraternity have expressed support for the artistic freedom of the director and are speaking against the proposed 89 cuts in Udta Punjab, including dropping Punjab from the title.

Interestingly, the CBFC had passed the trailer of the movie within a day which had even surprised producer Anurag Kashyap.

Neither Chirag nor Radhika have commented on the issue
