‘Saand Ki Aankh’ Song: Taapsee And Bhumi’s Ode to Womanhood
New song from ‘Saand Ki Aankh’
The makers of Saand Ki Aankh recently dropped a new song from the upcoming film starring Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu. The song is appropriately titled ‘Womaniya’ and celebrates womanhood. It has been sung by Vishal Dadlani and Vishal Mishra.
From the get go, ‘Womaniya’ echoes the film’s underlying sentiment i.e. female strength. It begins with both Bhumi and Taapsee as they sit on a cot and talk about the being a woman in a man’s world. The visuals then feature younger versions of the characters as they groove to the peppy track. Both don incredibly vibrant outfits.

In a way, this song is a tribute to everything the movie is going to be as well as everything it didn’t get a chance to be. Saand Ki Aankh was originally supposed to be titled ‘Womaniya’. However, due to legal issues, the makers were unable to acquire rights for the name.
Earlier, another song titled ‘Udta Teetar’ from the film had been released. While ‘Udta Teetar’ focused on the lives of the two characters, their journey into the world of sharpshooting, ‘Womaniya’ steers clear of the plot and acts as a reminder of the women and their unfathomable strength without necessarily pointing at the physical aspect of it.
Saand Ki Aankh is the story of two octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro Tomar and her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar, who made made history by becoming the world’s oldest and second-oldest sharpshooters, respectively. The two started learning how to shoot in 1999-2000 when they were in their 60s. Together, they have won over 50 national championships and have gone on to train many shooters in the last decade and a half.
After the release of the trailer, there was much talk about how the casting of young women for the role of aged characters.
