Indian fantasy film Tumbbad will open the Venice Film Festival's Critics' Week. The film will be screened out of the competition.

Produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L Rai, Amita Shah and Mukesh Shah, Tumbbad is directed by Rahi Anil Barve and comes under the genre of mystery and horror.
Actor and producer Sohum Shah speaks to The Quint about the enormously long production period of the film and what makes it a class apart. He also mentions about Rajkumar Hirani’s appreciation on the film and his acting skills. Tumbbad is the first Indian film to open the Venice Film Festival’s Critics’ Week.

Shah grew popular with the 2013 Indian drama film The Ship of Theseus, written and directed by Anand Gandhi and produced by himself, which bagged many national and international awards. Shah has also worked closely with Irrfan Khan in the movie Talvar and was also seen with Kangana Ranaut in the movie Simran.

The Hindi-language epic, produced by Mumbai-based Little Town Films, is sold internationally by Eros International.
