Clerics Don’t Scare Me, Says a Defiant Irrfan Khan

Irrfan Khan, who had earlier made a remark about sacrifice in the month of Ramzan and sparked controversy over it when clerics told him to focus on his career, has responded to his critics.

In a series of tweets, Irrfan gave it back to those who were criticising his comments about how religion should be practiced. He again stressed on the need to introspect and wrote about what religion meant to him.

The acclaimed actor tweeted that for him “religion is about personal introspection, it’s a source for compassion, wisdom and moderation and not for stereotyping and fanaticism.”

He also added that clerics don’t scare him and then said, “Thank God I don’t live in a country governed by religious contractors (thekedars).”
