Kevin Spacey, who’s been accused of sexual harassment by Anthony Rapp and other actors, has now been fired from Netflix’s show, House of Cards.

Earlier this week, Netflix had shut down production of the show to investigate the issue and has now decided to fire Spacey in the wake of the sexual abuse allegations.

“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey.”

After Anthony Rapp accused him of sexual assault, Kevin Spacey issued a statement that he was “horrified” to hear Anthony’s story and offered his “sincerest apologies” and also came out as a “gay man”. His admission of his homosexuality was widely criticised for being a ploy to divert the attention away from the allegations.

Since Anthony Rapp told BuzzFeed News about the incident, Mexican actor Roberto Cavazos and actor-director Tony Montana also accused Spacey of sexual misconduct.

As for the future of House of Cards - the show’s producers are considering a spin-off to the series, or killing off Spacey’s character to move forward.

According to Spacey’s representative, the actor is “taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment”.

Even his talent agency and publicist have parted ways with the actor in the wake of the allegations.
