He’s currently been busy on the sets of Half-Girlfriend starring Arjun and Shraddha Kapoor - the big screen Bollywood version of his last novel by the same title. But, writer Chetan Bhagat has also been finishing his seventh novel, which he tweeted, he’s writing in female first person and should be out this Diwali.

The popular writer, who has sold over seven million copies (according to Wikipedia) of his novels, also has an equally vocal club of haters online. If you’ve been following him on social media, you would know that Bhagat inevitably gets trolled regularly for most of his comments and pontifications on Twitter but remains largely unaffected.

No doubt, Chetan Bhagat haters will be arming themselves with ammunition to have a go at what yarn Bhagat will spin in ‘female first person’. After all, his attempt to write from the POV of an Indian Muslim Youth didn’t exactly win him many fans and his column advising Indian women on how to reduce their stress levels went viral for the wrong reasons.

All said and done, after the success of the movie-versions of 3 Idiots, Kai Po Che, and 2 States, Bhagat’s novels are hot property in the Bollywood market and no doubt, the bidding for the film rights of his new novel would already be underway.

Additional fact – the title of Bhagat’s novels always have a numerical in them:

  • Five Point Someone
  • One Night @ the Call Center
  • The 3 Mistakes of My Life
  • 2 States
  • Revolution 2020
  • Half Girlfriend

Any guesses on which number is going to be part of Bhagat’s new book? Or just wait till Diwali to find out via a full-page Flipkart ad!
