Like everyone else in the city, Bollywood actors too celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with a lot of fervour on 2 September. Sara Ali Khan also took to Instagram to share a photograph of her worshipping Lord Ganesha on the festival.
However, the actor was faced with trolls for sharing the picture. Sara was attacked on religious grounds for posting the photo with the Hindu God, where one user even went to the extent of asking for the invocation of fatwa against her.
She wished her fans on the festival and wrote, “Ganpati Bappa Morya!! May Ganesh Ji remove all your obstacles, and fill your year with laughter, positivity and success.”
Despite the attacking comments, she also found support among some of her fans who backed her. While one user wrote, “I’m a muslim and I will support her, this is india and india mei hum sab festival celebrate karte hai,” another wrote, “Don't be negative I am also a muslim. She is just respecting other's religion bcz every religion has its own respect and that's fair.”
Sara is currently shooting with Varun Dhawan for their upcoming film Coolie No.1, directed by David Dhawan.
