Rishi Kapoor is currently in the US for treatment.

On 29 September, actor Rishi Kapoor tweeted that he was leaving for the US for “some medical treatment” and had urged his well wishers to not worry or speculate unnecessarily about the exact reason for his sudden absence from work. It didn’t stop the speculations about an advanced stage of cancer however. Now his brother Randhir Kapoor has requested people refrain from speculations as Rishi is yet to undergo tests in America.

In an interview to Times of India, Randhir Kapoor said, “Rishi himself doesn’t know what he’s suffering from. He has not even started undergoing tests there; how can people speculate that he has cancer and that too, one that has escalated to advanced stage?”

He also added that depending on the test results, "his line of treatment, medication and other modalities will be decided upon.”

“It’s not fair to speculate things just like that.”

Rishi Kapoor in his tweet had cited over 45 years of wear and tear at the movies as the reason for his condition and assured his followers and fans that he would be back soon.

However, some conjecture within the industry has been suggesting that Rishi Kapoor has been diagnosed with blood cancer, which is at an advanced stage 4. A source also states that Rishi Kapoor had undergone a surgery at Mumbai’s Saifee Hospital for the same condition recently and has now been taken to the US for further treatment.

Rishi Kapoor has been accompanied by his wife Neetu and son Ranbir Kapoor to the US for his treatment, which is why the three Kapoors could not attend Krishna Raj Kapoor’s cremation on Monday. Rishi’s mother Krishna Raj Kapoor had passed away on 1 October due to a cardiac arrest.
