This season of Koffee With Karan continues to bring to the couch some zabardast jodis. When you think pairs, Prabhas and Rana Daggubati don’t fail to come to mind. But this jodi is also joined by SS Rajamouli, the visionary behind Baahubali. Here’s what transpired on the episode.
The trio opens up about the morning of the release of Baahubali: The Beginning. It was the dawn of jitters and excitement, understandably. Prabhas, Rana and Rajamouli were in Delhi and they made a pact to be together on the morning of the release of the film. They meant to be each other’s emotional support system on the make-or-break opening day. Things apparently didn’t go as planned.
Though the film garnered a rave response from the Northern and Tamil Nadu audience, the Telugu audiences didn’t warm up to it.
“I always tell my friends, see only if it’s a blockbuster wake me up otherwise don’t wake. No one woke me up! Oh God! What happened then?” Prabhas says.
All the tall promises of togetherness came crashing down as Prabhas was a no show. He was too tensed and stayed back in Delhi while Rana and Rajamouli made it to Mumbai.
While the screening of the film at Yashraj elicited massive applause, it met with a lukewarm response from the Hydearbad audience, raising the stakes for the trio. Rana even wondered, “Which film did you guys watch?”
The initial response gave the trio heebie-jeebies. It was only by Sunday night that the story had completely changed and the rest is evident in the box office figures.
