Ishan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor’s debut Dhadak is set to hit the screens on July 20th, 2018. Producer Karan Johar shared the update on social media like a proud father.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the director of Badrinath Ki Dulhania, that bagged quite a few nominations in the Filmfare Awards 2018, Dhadak is an official remake of Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat. There has been a lot of talk of how the film would not be true to the spirit of the original film, thanks to Dharma Productions’ signature larger-than-life treatment and the casting - Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s daughter opposite Shahid Kapoor’s brother, Ishaan as opposed to the unknown faces in Sairat.
“The basic premise (of Dhadak and Sairat) is same. But there are variations. My story is based on another set up. It is (set) in Rajasthan. It comes with its own challenges, conflicts and style of a love story. We are adapting Sairat into the world that we want to,”Shashank Khaitan to PTI
Karan Johar had earlier posted pictures from the sets of the film in Udaipur, where Sridevi had accompanied Jhanvi.
The film is slated to release on 20 July.
