Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal’s wedding is expected to be one of the world’s most expensive affairs. According to a report in Bloomberg, the whole week-long wedding celebration is expected to cost $100 million or about Rs 720 crore. The pre-wedding festivities began with functions at The Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur and the couple will tie the knot on 12 December at oil-and-telecom tycoon Mukesh Ambani’s home, Antilia in Mumbai.
“People familiar with the planning estimated the expense at about $100 million, while a person close to the family said the amount is not more than $15 million. ” stated the report.
Pre-wedding festivities saw Former First Lady, Hillary Clinton and several business tycoons including Henry Kravis in attendance, besides a performance by international singer, Beyonce at the sangeet ceremony.
As per reports, the Ambanis and Piramals have taken at least 5 five-star hotels nearby to accommodate the long guest list. A war room has been set up in Mumbai to manage logistics, the report stated.
More than 100 chartered flights flew guests to and from Udaipur’s Maharana Pratap Airport, according to the report.
The pre-wedding functions of the marriage of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal began with the families starting a special four-day 'Anna Seva' to feed 5,100 people, a majority with special abilities, from Friday in Udaipur.
Food was served three times daily till December 10 as part of the other wedding related ceremonies held on Saturday and Sunday.
The newlyweds will move in together in their marital home at the Gulita building, a $64-million diamond-themed mansion in Mumbai.
