Lukka Chuppi producer Dinesh Vijan has confirmed that actor Irrfan Khan is soon to return to the sets of Hindi Medium 2, days after he was spotted at the Mumbai airport, where the actor had reportedly asked the media to not click his pictures and proceeded to cover his face.

Confirming the speculations regarding Irrfan’s return to Hindi Medium 2, Vijan told The Indian Express:

“He (Irrfan Khan) has gotten back. We are just putting the finishing touches to the script. I think it is too early to talk about it. I think in another two months, we will have clarity. But we will like to make it this year. I feel (since) he has come back, let him get comfortable. He is doing lovely. He is back in the city. But any official confirmation about the film will only come in about a month.”

Vijan also told the newspaper that there was “no chance” of Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, who had made her Bollywood debut opposite Irrfan in Hindi Medium, of featuring in the sequel, considering the AICWA ban on working with Pakistani talent post the dastardly Pulwama attack.

Back in March last year, Irrfan had revealed that he has been diagnosed with a rare tumour. Soon after, he went to London for treatment.

Directed by Saket Chaudhary, the 2017 hit film Hindi Medium revolves around a couple who want to give their daughter the best education so that she becomes accepted by the elite in society.

Dinesh Vijan’s production Hindi Medium 2 will flash-forward by a decade and will narrate the story of Irrfan’s character Raj.
