Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar has been hospitalized in Breach Candy since Monday due to a viral chest infection. Speculations have been rife that she has been discharged and is back home. However, her niece Rachana Shah told The Quint that Lataji is still in the hospital, but stable. “Lataji is still in the hospital but she is stable. She will be kept under observation for the next few days. Being a singer has worked in her favour and her lungs are very strong,” Rachana said.
An internal medicine physician of Breach Candy, Dr Pratit Samdani told Mumbai Mirror that Mangeshkar is slowly improving. “She is still on life support but her condition is slowly improving. Until and unless we can control her infection other procedures cannot be carried out” he said.
Hospital sources have also told the publication that Lata Mangeshkar is suffering from pneumonia, heart problems and chest infection.
On Tuesday, the singer’s issued a statement saying that she is “stable.” “Her parameters are good. Being a singer, her lung capacity has pulled her through. She is a fighter. We will update when Lataji gets discharged and comes home. (We) request that we give the family the space they deserve at the moment,” the statement read.
