The debate around pay parity in Bollywood between male and female actors, is a never ending one. Female actors have been struggling to get paid as much as the male ones for some time now. At a Hindustan Times Summit, where Kareena Kapoor Khan and Akshay Kumar were the panelists, the two shared their opinions on the same.

Kareena was asked about female actors not venturing into production as much as their male counterparts. Taking Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma as examples of women who are launching production houses, Kareena said that she has never been interested in production, but only in acting. Moving towards the pay parity argument, she declared that she wants to make as much as Akshay Kumar does.

Akshay was quick to respond and said, “Talking about Good Newwz, I’m a partner with Karan Johar. I’m ready to make a film where she does the hero’s role and she will be 50-50 partner in it.”

“I’ll make the film, produce the film and you’ll be the hero in it and won’t take any remuneration. The money we make after releasing it, will be divided between you and me 50-50 percent.”

Making a point, Kareena retorts by saying that she is not a heroine or a hero, but an artist. “In Good Newwz too, I’m technically the hero,” she added.

The two star together in Good Newwz along with Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, and the film is jointly produced by Akshay and Karan Johar.
