1. Karni Sena Threatens Release of ‘Article 15’, Director Responds
The Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15, which releases on 28 June, has found itself in much controversy ever since the trailer for the film dropped. After earning the ire of Parshuram Sena, a Brahmin outfit from UP, the makers of Article 15 have now also been threatened by the Karni Sena, the same group that protested the release of Deepika-Ranveer starrer Padmaavat in 2018.
The Karni Sena along with another outfit that calls itself the Brahman Mahasabha held a press conference on 24 June saying demanding that the film is ‘banned’. A member of the Brahman Mahasabha said, “Ban this film leave Brahmins alone, remove our name from the film. Brahmins have always been shown in a bad light.” He added, “There so many mistakes in the film, they are showing that the crime has happened with a Dalit but in reality it was with someone from the OBC category.”

Since its trailer released, Kabir Singh has been at the center of controversy. The film has been raking in good collections at the box office, but it’s also being widely criticized for the ‘misogynistic’ treatment of the story. The titular character and glorification of the toxic relationship between him and Preeti (played by Kiara Advani) have been evoking extreme reactions on social media too. While most people are shocked at the problematic nature of the film, some have also been defending it asking people to ‘not find message in movies’ and the debate continues.

4. Parents Put a Security Ring on Her: Sunaina’s Boyfriend Ruhail
Sunaina Roshan’s partner Ruhail Amin has come out in support of her claims that Hrithik Roshan and the rest of her family isn’t accepting of him since he is Muslim. On 20 June, Sunaina alleged in an interview that her father Rakesh Roshan slapped her and branded her partner a terrorist because he was Muslim. “Last year, I fell in love with a journalist, Ruhail Amin, but neither my father nor Hrithik approved of the relationship. My father slapped me and said he was a terrorist,” she told Pinkvilla.
In an interview with News 18, Ruhail called the Roshans’ alleged behaviour “unfortunate”. “Labelling someone extremist just because he/she belongs to a certain religion is simply outrageous and needs to be condemned in strongest words,” he said.

Priyanka Chopra joined Nick Jonas and family in Paris, France, on the weekend, ahead of Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s wedding ceremony, which is speculated to be held in the city next weekend.
