Huge Honour & Responsibility: MAMI Chairperson Deepika Padukone
Former chairperson Kiran Rao has stepped down so as to focus on a film project.
Actor-producer Deepika Padukone has been voted the new chairperson for the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. Former chairperson Kiran Rao has stepped down so as to focus on a film project.
According to Mumbai Mirror, Kiran welcomed Deepika, who was earlier on the board of trustees, saying,
“Deepika has been a supporter of the festival and part of our Board of Trustees, and is a person whose ethos and work I greatly admire. I am sure that under her leadership the Academy will become stronger and more robust in serving the cinema community.”Kiran Rao, former chairperson, MAMI
Festival director Anupama Chopra also welcomed Deepika to the team and said that she is “really looking forward to working with and learning from her”.
Deepika is of course elated about the “huge honour and responsibility”.
