Amitabh Bachchan took a good-natured dig at the West Indies cricket team after Virat Kohli surpassed his personal best and led team India to a six-wicket victory in the first T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday, 6 December. After the West Indies posted an imposing 207/5, the Indian captain’s unbeaten 94 off 50 balls, including six sixes and four boundaries, helped India get to 209 with eight balls and six wickets to spare.

Big B took to Twitter to laud the win and wrote: “Yaar kitni baar bola main tere ko ki Virat ko mat ched, mat ched, mat ched. Pan suntaich kidhar hai tum? Abhi parchi likh ke de diya na hath mein? Dekh dekh WI ka chehra dekh. Kitna mara usko! Kitna maara! (How many times have I told you not to provoke Virat? But you don’t listen. Now see he gave you a perfect response. Look at the West Indies’ face. See how much he rattled them!)”

The lines are a twist on the iconic mirror scene from Amitabh’s 1977 cult hit Amar Akbar Anthony.

An amused Virat responded tweeting, “Haha love the dialogue Sir. You’re always an inspiration.”
