This Friday 13 September saw the release of the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Dream Girl and the audience’s verdict on the film is now out. Going by the reactions from the first day first show, the public has given the comedy a thumbs up.
Audiences were all praise for Ayushmann’s performance along with Raaj Shaandilyaa’s writing and direction. The music of the film, including the hit songs “Radhe Radhe,” “Dhagala Lagli” and “Dil ka Telephone” got a special shout out from the viewers. They also lauded the rest of Dream Girl’s cast, which includes Annu Kapoor, Nushrat Bharucha, Vijay Raaz, Manjot Singh and Abhishek Banerjee.
Crirics were more mixed on the film. Here’s what Urmi Bhattacheryya from The Quint had to say.
“The biggest letdown of Dream Girl is its lacklustre second half and the fact that it relies too much on Ayushmann’s punches – and not enough on the script’s – to save it. There is nothing about Dream Girl that you couldn’t have predicted - but plenty you wish they’d left out.”Urmi Bhattacheryya
Dream Girl is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. The film deals with a man (Ayushmann) who works in a call center, and talks to other men in the voice of a woman named Pooja.
