The makers of Sonam Kapoor’s The Zoya Factor have released a new promo for the film which features a familiar face. The clip shows the captain of the Indian cricket team getting ready for his turn on the field. A commentator announces in the background that the skipper has been following the new “Zoya Factor formula”. Just before he picks up his helmet and walks out to bat, the skipper kisses a pendant with a picture of Sonam Kapoor dressed as the goddess Durga for good luck.

The cricketer in the clip is Gaurav Arora, who is popular on social media app TikTok for his resemblance to the real-life captain of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli.

The Zoya Factor is based on Anuja Chauhan’s popular 2008 novel and stars Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan. Sonam plays Zoya Solanki, whose father deems her to be lucky because she was born on the same day that India made its historic win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. As an adult, she is assigned to work with the Indian cricket team on a campaign as part of her job as an advertising executive. In the meanwhile, she becomes a lucky mascot for the team and finds herself falling in love with the captain, played by Dulquer.

The Zoya Factor has been directed by Abhishek Sharma (Tere Bin Laden, Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran) and releases in theatres on 20 September.
