It seems Bollywood is ready for its own space sagas at last. After the buzz around Aamir Khan playing Rakesh Sharma in a biopic and Priyanka Chopra possibly donning the formidable suit of Kalpana Chawla, Sushant Singh Rajput is now ready to fly into space. He will soon start prepping for a space adventure, Chanda Mama Door Ke.

According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, Sushant would be training hard at NASA for the role. What’s more, a spacesuit for him is being designed by none other than special effects director John Palmer, who has names like Ron Howard’s Apollo 13 and Mimi Leder’s Deep Impact on his CV.

Sushant, who wanted to be an astronaut or an air force pilot as a child, confirms the news. He says he “can’t wait to get into” the specially designed, easy-for-long-hours-of-shoot spacesuit. And dig this - the suit has “11 layers” and can be worn during “under-water training” - even in a 40-feet deep swimming pool”.

John too is super-excited to be a part of the project. He says he has researched “thousands” of spacesuit designs with director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan before taking the final call. He also has incorporated “Indian elements” that are "aesthetically appealing” as well as “functional” in the design.

According to John, Sushant, with “his fitness level and dedication”, is sure to cope well with the difficult training that’s coming up.

Time to fly to the moon!
