After the success of mainstream Bollywood films like Andhadhun and Sridevi-starrer Mom, it’s clear that the market for Hindi films in China is huge. Now, in order to improve the distribution of Bollywood films in China, Bollywood actor Preity Zinta has joined hands with a LA-based company.

Preity Zinta is joining forces with Los Angeles-based Above The Clouds to create a film and television development fund. Above The Clouds is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Er Dong Pictures. Er Dong Pictures is a Chinese production and talent company.

The Veer-Zaara actor, along with her partner Amrita Sen, will be working closely with Above The Clouds to make existing Bollywood films more accessible in China.

The Veer-Zaara actor, along with her partner Amrita Sen, will be working closely with Above The Clouds to make existing Bollywood films more accessible in China. The company will also be entering the television industry of China. According to a statement released, the fund from Above The Clouds will be used to back various original titles as well, both in Hindi and English. These titles will be developed for Indian, Asian and global markets.

“I am delighted to partner with ATC and Er Dong to bring our vision to the global market. As neighbouring countries, India and China have strong cultural ties and a partnership like this will only make that stronger. Our goal is to produce content for film and TV in both English and Hindi, and have a strong global appeal,” said Preity in a statement.

Allen Chen Shuo-Gang, founder and chairman of Er Dong, said, “Bollywood films have become mainstream entertainment not only for Chinese consumers but for viewers around the world. Through this much-anticipated partnership, we expect to build an exceptional roster of films and television shows that will resonate with audiences around the world.”
