After being riddled with controversy, the team of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming period film, Padmavati, has officially changed the film’s title to Padmaavat. A change in the film’s official Twitter handle has confirmed this after the CBFC’s recommendations for a few modifications and an alteration to the title.
Padmavati now Padmaavat has been in the midst of controversies over the last year. Protests by the Karni Sena and other Rajput groups also led to postponing of the film from its scheduled release date of 1 December 2017. Padmaavat is currently scheduled to release on 25 January, but this is yet to be officially announced by the producers Viacom 18.
