Kartik Aaryan and Kritis Sanon's romantic comedy Luka Chuppi registered a business of Rs 8.01 crore on the first day of its release at the box office and Rs 10.08 crore on the second. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the numbers, saying, “#LukaChuppi zooms upwards on Day 2... Another strong day [Day 3] will place it in a comfortable position due to the controlled costs... Will cross *opening weekend* biz of #SKTKS [₹ 26.57 cr] and #PKP2 [₹ 22.75 cr]... Fri 8.01 cr, Sat 10.08 cr. Total: ₹ 18.09 cr. India biz.”
The film collected Rs 8.01 crore at the box office on day 1. According to Taran, this makes it Kartik’s biggest opener till date - his last film Pyaar Ka Punchnama raked in Rs 6.80 crore on the day of its premiere. He also noted that the film’s opening day collection was bigger than that of Raazi, Stree and Badhaai Ho.
Directed by by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, Luka Chuppi also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Vinay Pathak and Aparshakti Khurana. Reviews for the film have mostly been positive. “The story telling is simplistic and formulaic. But the proceedings are easy on the eyes and the general mirth is infectious,” writes The Quint’s Stuti Shukla.
