Watch: 66th National Film Award Ceremony Begins

Earlier this year, due to the Lok Sabha elections, the National Film Awards Ceremony had been pushed back and is finally being held today (23 December 2019). In August, the list of winners was announced. Badhaai Ho (Best Popular Film) and Uri: The Surgical Strike (Aditya Dhar, Best Director) were some of the winners.

Mira Nair Demands Release of Actor Sadaf Jafar

Filmmaker Mira Nair has demanded the release of A Suitable Boy actor Sadaf Jafar, who was arrested for participating in an anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest in Lucknow. Nair tweeted on Sunday: “This is our India now - Appalling: our #SuitableBoy actress, Sadaf Jafar, beaten and jailed for peaceful protest in Lucknow! Join me in demanding her release.”

Mira Nair started shooting for the screen adaptation of Vikram Seth's novel A Suitable Boy in Lucknow on 7 September. The film stars Tabu, Ishaan Khatter and newcomer Tanya Maniktala.

Vicky, Ayushmann Felicitated at National Film Awards Ceremony

The 66th National Film Awards ceremony was held on Monday. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu presented the awards to the winners. Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal shared the award for Best Actor (Male), while Keerthy Suresh won the Best Actor (Female).
