Veteran Bengali Filmmaker Mrinal Sen Passes Away
Mrinal Sen, one of India’s most celebrated Bengali filmmakers who put Indian cinema on the world map, passed at the age of 95 on Sunday, 30 December. While he made his debut in 1955 with Raat Bhore, his breakthrough film, Bhuvan Shome, came in 1969. The film is said to have initiated the New Wave of Indian cinema in the 1970s.
Actress Parul Yadav Hails #MeToo Movement as 'Positive Change'
Actress Parul Yadav, who is playing the lead role in the Kannada remake of the Bollywood film "Queen", says from removing the accused from his position to creating collective consciousness among people regarding sexual harassment at the workplace, #MeToo movement is a positive change in every workplace including film industry.
"The voice of women has been suppressed for years, it is great to see how stories of injustice, humiliation and harassment not only come out in the media but also legal action has been taken. There are film directors who had to stop working unless the legal process gets over. Now no member of the fraternity can get away after committing a crime like sexual harassment," Parul said in an interaction with IANS.
Parul has been working in the south Indian film industry for quite some time and has received many awards for her Kannada films.

I Didn’t Win ‘Bigg Boss’, but I Ruled It: Sreesanth
Former Indian cricketer Sreesanth, who lost the Bigg Boss 12 trophy to actress Dipika Kakar, says that he did not win the show, but ended up winning thousands of hearts. “Though I have not become the winner of the show, I have won so many hearts. Isn’t that a remarkable achievement? When I entered the show, I thought that I would get evicted in a week or two, but I survived. Not only survived, I ruled the show,” Sreesanth told IANS.
Aamir Khan’s New Film ‘Rubaru Roshni’ Drops on Republic Day!
Megastar Aamir Khan on Monday announced his new production, Rubaru Roshni, which will premiere on the small screen.
Aamir, along with his wife Kiran Rao, has produced the feature film, which will premiere on January 26, 2019.
"Hey guys, our next film from Aamir Khan Productions (AKP) is premiering on StarPlus, on January 26,2019 at 11 am. It's something that Kiran and I have produced, and which we are very close to. Rubaru Roshni. Don't miss it," tweeted Aamir, who made his small screen debut with Satyamev Jayate.

Ranveer's 'Simmba' Makes Waves Internationally
While Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan’s Simmba saw an above average opening weekend in India with box office collections totalling to Rs 44.05 crore on day 2, reports suggest that the film is doing well in the international circuit too.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film earned a total of Rs 24.22 crore over its first two days in overseas markets such as USA-Canada, UAE, UK and Australia.
