The magnificent Irrfan Khan is going to be out of action for some time. As the actor said in his note, which informed his fans and followers that he has been diagnosed with NeuroEndocrine Tumour, the treatment for it will take him out of the country. While as requested, we will continue to keep sending our wishes to the actor till he’s fit as a fiddle once again, Irrfan will also continue to entertain us even while he’s away on this trying journey.

Blackmail

On 6 April, Irrfan will be back in a theatre near you with Blackmail. The film, directed by Abhinay Deo has already created a positive buzz with its wacky, wild and thoroughly entertaining trailer.

Also starring Kirti Kulhari, Divya Dutta and Arunoday Singh, the makers of Blackmail have said that they won’t be pushing the release of the film after news of Irrfan’s illness. Irrfan himself didn’t want the film’s release to be postponed says director Deo, “His (Irrfan) only request was that the film should get the best possible release and it should not suffer because of his absence.”

Vishal Bhardwaj’s Film Co-starring Deepika Padukone

The biggie that we’ll now have to wait for is the much anticipated Vishal Bhardwaj film, which was to bring back the Piku couple Irrfan and Deepika together. The project was initially to start production from March but was postponed after Deepika had a back problem. Bhardwaj had informed his plans to postpone the film via Facebook, before Irrfan had tweeted about dealing with a rare disease.

Vishal’s film is inspired from the story Femme Fatale from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai but it’s not a biopic of Sapna Didi as some reports earlier suggested.

Amongs Irrfan’s international projects, Puzzle, a film which Irrfan had said is very close to his heart, was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Directed by Mark Turtletaub, Puzzle, was a film Irrfan chose to do because he wanted to “break away from studio films and do something intimate”. Fans can also catch Irrfan in Anup Singh’s The Song of Scorpions which had its India premiere at MAMI last year.

By the time you guys are done with these gems, Irrfan should be back under the studio lights doing what he does best.
