The first song of Akshay Kumar-Mouni Roy-starrer Gold is out. “Naino Ne Baandhi” is a love ballad on the married couple’s growing love and love-tiffs. Composed by Arko, the number has been sung by Yasser Desai.

“Naino Ne Baandhi” is melodious enough and has an Old World charm about it, but is it a number that would be remembered beyond the release of the film? That remains to be seen.

Gold is loosely based on the life of Balbir Singh, who was a part of the team that won the first Olympic medal for India as an independent nation in 1948. Powerfully combining sports and patriotic fervour, Gold has all the essential ingredients to be a blockbuster. It’s genre has proven to be hugely successful in the past.

Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, the film is written and directed by Reema Kagti. It marks the Bollywood debut of Naagin fame Mouni Roy, and also features Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and Vineet Kumar Singh in pivotal roles.

Gold is scheduled to release on August 15, and will clash with John Abraham-Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Satyamev Jayate.
