‘The Lion King’ Trailer Hits You Right in the Feels

Disney has dropped the trailer for its upcoming live action remake of The Lion King. It offers a look at beloved characters from the 1994 animated classic such as Scar, Mufasa, Simba, Nala, Zazu, Rafiki and Timon and Pumba.

The trailer opens with glimpses of Simba encountering Scar and his hyena henchmen at the Elephant Graveyard. There’s also the iconic shot of Simba and Mufasa gazing down upon Pride Lands from atop Pride Rock.

The Lion King features the voices of Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala and James Earl Jones who reprises his role as Mufasa, along with Seth Rogen, John Oliver, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Eric Andre and Keegan-Michael Key.

The film has been directed by Jon Favreau and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. Hans Zimmer returns to give the film its background score while Elton John is set to rework some of his original compositions.

The Lion King releases in theatres on 19 July.
