Upcoming Bollywood film Sadak 2, which stars Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur, is a sequel to the original 1991 film. A homecoming of sorts for the Bhatt family, the film will mark filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s return as a director. It will also be his first collaboration with his daughter Alia Bhatt. According to Fox Star, the film, which was earlier scheduled to release on 25 March 2020, will now release on 10 July, 2020.
“The roads will intersect once again. #Sadak2 in cinemas on 10th July, 2020”, the studio wrote on its official Twitter page.
On 23 May, actor Pooja Bhatt took to Twitter to announce the wrap of the first schedule of Sadak 2. She also shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the sets of the film.
“And it’s a wrap for our first schedule of Sadak2. You know you’re onto something special when you wake up the morning after with a longing to be back on set. Thank you @MaheshNBhatt @duttsanjay @aliaa08 @visheshfilms #JayPatel #AkiNarula & the entire crew for everything & more!”, she wrote on Twitter.
In a report published by Mumbai Mirror, it has been revealed that the plot of Sadak 2 revolves around a protagonist’s fight against a godman. According to Mirror, Alia Bhatt, who is the protagonist in the film, is on a quest to call out and expose a fake godman who runs an ashram. Sanjay Dutt’s character too is helping Alia Bhatt on this journey.
Sources also said that preparation for the shoot has already begun and the actors will start shooting for Sadak 2 in two weeks.
According to the director Mahesh Bhatt, the film is about “love, loss, and redemption”.
He also suggested that the plot of the film isn’t just limited to this and one should not trivialize it like this.
Sadak 2 had been first announced by Alia Bhatt on her father’s 70th birthday. Recently, Alia Bhatt also opened up about working with her father for the first time.

Sadak 2 also stars Gulshan Grover. While there is no information about who exactly plays the godman’s character, Mahesh Bhatt has said that Gulshan Grover certainly does not. Although Grover’s character is also very important in the film.
