Akshay Kumar and the cast of the original Hera Pheri, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty -- are reuniting for the third film in the franchise. Producer Feroz Nadiadwala has picked veteran director Indra Kumar to direct Hera Pheri 3. Indra recently directed Total Dhamaal starring Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit. The film is a hit at the box office.
The original comedy which came out in 2000 was directed by Priyadarshan, meanwhile the first sequel Phir Hera Pheri was directed by Neeraj Vora. The third instalment has gone through many ups and downs, and was initially supposed to be directed by Neeraj again. However, the actor/writer/director passed away in December 2017.
Indra has now confirmed the project is back on track.
In a statement to DNA, he said, “I’m happy that the favourite trio is coming back together. We start the film towards the end of this year. It’s currently being scripted. I was completely cut off from that project for the last three months because I was busy with Total Dhamaal.”
